The Faculty of Science is proud to announce the award of a Learning Innovation and Teaching Enhancement (LITE) Grant to Dr. Vivian Dayeh (Biology), Dr. Brenda Lee (Physics), and Savannah Sloat, Manager, Science Indigenous Initiatives. This grant will support their innovative project aimed at supporting STEM education through the implementation of Indigenous Learning Circles as a pedagogical approach to learning in large-scale STEM classes.

June marks Pride Month, a time to celebrate and honour the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. At the Faculty of Science, we draw inspiration from our incredible 2SLGBTQIA+ members, whose passion and perseverance drive progress.

The International Association of GeoChemistry (IAGC) has chosen two Waterloo Faculty of Science faculty members as winners in the 2024 award class. Ramon Aravena has been awarded the Vernadsky Medal and Carol Ptacek was named an IAGC Fellow.

This week, students and faculty in the Department of Biology gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of their colleagues at the 2024 Biology Awards.

The Mineralogical Association of Canada (MAC) has named Earth and Environmental Science assistant professor Jenine McCutcheon the winner of the 2024 Young Scientist Award. 

The Faculty of Science mourns the loss of Geoffrey Power, former Biology department chair and one of the department's founders.
