Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have become more socially isolated than ever before and it is having a strong impact on student mental health across the UWaterloo community.

This Bell Let's Talk Day at St. Paul's, we want students to know they’re not alone during this time and there are plenty of resources to get you through. On-campus, we’re excited to share we have brought on two staff members to support students, Faith Friesen, a counsellor in-residence and Aaron Rousseau, a student support coordinator.

The Board of Governors at St. Paul’s University College has reappointed Richard Myers as principal of the College for a second term, beginning July 1, 2021. He will serve in the role until June 30, 2026.

On November 25, a number of enthusiastic GreenHouse innovators came together to pitch their latest ventures to a panel of judges from across St. Paul’s community during its most recent Social Impact Showcase, with all four presenting ventures winning funding.

St. Paul’s announces new Board Chair

St. Paul’s is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Siim as the new chair of our Board of Governors. He succeeds Gary Foerster who had been in the role from 2007 to 2014. Siim’s appointment is effective immediately and runs until October of 2022.

Recent alumna of the GreenHouse social impact incubator at St. Paul’s University College, Beth Eden (BES'20) has been recognized by Corporate Knights magazine as one of 30 young leaders under 30 making a difference in sustainability issues in Canada.

On September 26, the Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre (WISC) at St. Paul’s, hosted its seventeenth annual pow wow virtually, garnering over 4,000 clicks during the live-streamed event on Facebook.

St. Paul’s University College is very proud to announce the appointment of the Right Honorable Michaëlle Jean, 27th Governor General of Canada, as Chancellor, for a three-year term starting immediately.

“We are delighted to have someone of Mme. Jean’s talent and stature take on the role of Chancellor,” said Brad Siim, incoming Board Chair. “Her interests and values align beautifully with those of our College.”

St. Paul's staff, students and faculty came together virtually and in-person today (September 30) to recognize Orange Shirt Day, a day to raise awareness and educate Canadians about the history and legacy of the Residential Schools System in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.
