AHS convocation recognizes outstanding academic achievement

The University of Waterloo's 104th Convocation took place Wednesday, June 13, conferring degrees for a total of 847 graduates in the faculties of applied health sciences and environment.

Alan Cudlip, graduating in honours kinesiology, delivered an inspiring valedictory address on behalf of graduating students. The alumni gold medal, recognizing the top graduating student in the faculty, was presented to Shih-Yuan Liang (Health Studies, School of Public Health and Health Systems).

In addition to the gold medal, departmental awards for "distinguished academic achievement" went to Shih-Yuan Liang (School of Public Health and Health Systems), Allison Engelhardt (kinesiology), and Danielle Ufniak (Recreation and Leisure Studies).

Professor John P. Hirdes of the School of Public Health and Health Systems was honoured with the award of excellence in graduate supervision.
