Waterloo’s Writing and Communication Centre is currently accepting applications for Dissertation Boot Camp. This online program, which is designed to help dissertation and thesis writers to get a jump start on their writing goals, runs Monday, July 8^th to Thursday, July 11^th from 9am to 4pm each day.

What? In this interactive workshop, you'll learn how to prepare an effective curriculum vitae (CV) as well as how to write a professional and compelling cover letter for academic and postdoc positions.

The Writing and Communication Centre will be hosting its fall iteration of Speak like a Scholar from Monday, July 15^th to Thursday, July 18^th from 9am to 3pm each day.

This program is designed to help doctoral researchers develop their voices as independent scholars and give academic presentations such as dissertation defenses and conference papers with confidence.

What? Conferences present excellent occasions to network with a variety of people, but many are unfamiliar with what to expect at conferences and how to maximize opportunities to engage.  We will explore some networking basics with a focus on how to maximize the opportunities that present themselves during academic and professional conferences.

This session will provide a simple overview of copyright, and the implications it has in your teaching. By the end of this session you will be better prepared to:

• Use copyright protected works in the classroom, on LEARN, or through Course Reserves, and
• Choose alternate options for using materials, if necessary
