The Corridor: Film Screening and Community Building Event

Join fellow UWaterloo alumni from the Greater Vancouver Area for a film screening and community building event featuring The Corridor, a film by environmental alliance, Age of Union. All are welcome to this educational and family-friendly event at the Science World!

We are very excited to announce that applications are open for the new South Africa Field Course: Biodiversity, Climate Change and Social Justice (ENV 474)! This interdisciplinary field course integrates a range of science and policy perspectives and field-based interactions to understand South Africa’s Cape region as a dynamic and linked system of people and nature. Interested Faculty of Environment undergraduate students must apply by January 19, 2024 to be considered for the course.

Alumni Office Hour: Ask me Anything - A career conversation with Ryan Guetter

Ever wonder what it's like to work for one of the largest and most experienced planning and urban design firms in Canada? Are you a Planning student who is daunted by the idea of appearing before municipal councils and tribunals? Hear from Planning alumnus, Ryan Guetter (BES’03, MCIP, RPP) as he draws on almost 20 years of experience working at Weston Consulting. Experienced in feasibility studies, development proformas, urban design, community master plans, subdivision design, zoning by-laws and more, Ryan’s expertise as a planner and project manager is sure to be insightful for any Planning student.

Jack Rosen Entrepreneurship Panel

The Jack Rosen Memorial Award Entrepreneurship Panel brings established entrepreneurs to Faculty of Environment students to discuss environmental entrepreneurship; what it takes, and how to get started. Students will learn about the Jack Rosen Memorial Award aimed at supporting graduate and undergraduate students with an innovative idea aimed at solving environmental challenges or issues.

Offering an opportunity to come together for delicious treats and good company, Environment held its second annual food truck social on September 28 at the EV3 Green. We know networking can be hard, but as Adrianna Hern, Harry Cheung, Dr. Chris Fletcher, and Dr. Simon Courteney remind us, being in the Environment community makes it easier, and there are tips that can help.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the Faculty of Environment held the 2023 ENV Moon Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival) in the courtyard of EV1. The Deans, professors and supporting staff within the faculty and related university units attended this event, warmly welcoming and sending their good wishes to our students. Many of the students and some staff shared their performances in the celebration, bringing the atmosphere to a crescendo.
