Welcome to our new department chairs and school directors

We are pleased to announce five new appointments to the Faculty of Environment’s academic and administrative leadership.

Dr. Chris Fletcher’s term as chair in the Geography and Environmental Management (GEM) will commence on July 1, 2023.

Dr. Katie Plaisance’s term as chair in the Department of Knowledge Integration (KI) will commence on July 1, 2023

Dr. Mark Seasons’ term as chair in the School of Planning will commence on July 1, 2023.

Dr. Derek Armitage’s term as director in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability will commence on January 1, 2024.

Dr. Jeffrey Wilson’s term as director of the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development will commence on July 1, 2024.

The role of chair or director is critical to realizing the mission of the Faculty and University, providing both academic and administrative leadership for a department or school.

bali field trip_ Katherine_Bethany_Elizabeth

Three students took part on a lifetime field trip to Bali, Indonesia with Professor Doberstein. Come along with Bethany Elizabeth, and Katherine as they share why they wanted to join the field trip, what skills they developed and the impact the experience has left on them.

Congratulations to Professor Simron Singh who has been awarded a University Research Chair (URC) in recognition of his significant contributions as an industrial ecologist in the area of socio-metabolic research on small islands.
