The University of Waterloo's Faculty of Environment proudly celebrated its graduates during a vibrant convocation ceremony on October 25, 2024, recognizing their hard work and dedication in the fields of sustainability and environmental studies. With their degrees now in hand, these new alumni are ready to make meaningful contributions to environmental challenges and lead the way toward a more sustainable future.

The Fall 2024 Environment Leadership Series successfully connected students with accomplished alumni, fostering valuable insights and networking opportunities. As students reflect on their experiences, it’s clear that the event has empowered them to pursue meaningful careers in environmental stewardship and to embrace the potential for growth through collaboration and connection.

The Global Citizen Internship program enabled committed, talented, and passionate Environment undergraduate and graduate students to apply their knowledge at Canadian registered charities and non-profit organizations with local and global reach. Discover the valuable lessons they learned through these transformative experiences. 

Dr. Katie Plaisance shares insights into why organizations are increasingly employing collaborative approaches to problem-solving, and why it is core to the Faculty of Environment.

Sabine Weber (MES, PhD' 98) is a dedicated researcher and advocate at the forefront of sustainable and textile waste management in Canada. She is the 2024 Recent Alumni Inspiration Award winner.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Larry Lamb’s passing. Larry spent 40 years working in the Faculty of Environment as both an adjunct lecturer and head of the ecology lab.  

Environment celebrated our graduating students at convocation on Tuesday, June 11 and hosted a special ceremony to recognize this year’s students who graduated with outstanding achievements.
