Celebrating 26 years!
The 26th Annual Applied Health Sciences Fun Run was a great success!
Although the weather report said rain all week, participants were surprised with a beautiful day. As a result, a record number of around 300 participants took part in the Fun Run. Expert CHIP Timing was again provided to all participants in the 5km race, but the fun aspect of this annual event was still evident in the crazy costumes, face painting and balloon animals. Again this year, the Weather Network highlighted the race on its broadcast.
Susan Elliott, Dean of Applied Health Sciences welcomed all the participants and ran in her second Fun Run. And Waterloo’s new President Feridun Hamdullahpur attended his first Fun Run in the role of Grand Marshal; wishing the runners good luck and starting the race.
Runners and those cheering them on were entertained by The Water Boys, Waterloo's male a cappella ensemble and AHS student Dave Partridge, known as DJ Furious George kept everyone moving to the music. Local Iron Man Don Andrews (BSc , Kinesiology) led everyone through warm-ups, including his 2 year old daughter. Local chiropractors, Dr. Jaclyn Witt (BSc '03, Health Studies and Gerontology) and Dr. Gregory Lusk provided much appreciated post-race treatment.
