Fun Run - Celebrating 32 years!

The 32nd annual Fun Run was a great success!

A record number of over 600 alumni, students, faculty, staff, and members of the greater community took part in this year's Run. We invited back Craig McLennan (BA Hons. '91 Sociology) as our alumni speaker, and Tina Roberts (BSc '80 Health Studies), the founder of the Fun Run, as our grand marshal.

Feridun Hamdullahpur, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waterloo and James Rush, Dean of Applied Health Sciences also welcomed participants in celebration of the 32nd annual Fun Run and the 50th anniversary of the Faculty.

Runners and those cheering them on were entertained by The Water Boys, Waterloo's male a cappella ensemble and DJ Dave Partridge kept everyone moving to the music! Our very own UW Fitness team led everyone through warm-ups, accompanied by our very own AHSUM student society.

Thanks to our participants, $3200 was raised for Teens In Motion program. Teens In Motion (TIM) is an exercise and healthy behaviour program for clinically overweight teens (12-17 yrs of age). TIM introduces teens to sustainable, healthy lifestyle changes without putting the focus on weight loss. Through this program teens develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to make long-term, positive lifestyle changes to improve overall health, well-being and disease risk.

Thanks again and we hope to see you in 2018 for Reunion and the annual Fun Run!

See Fun Run Archives for all years of fun running.
