Sit down with Michael Lau, the Human Factors Leader at the Nemera Insight Innovation Center, and learn about the field of medical product development and how ergonomics/human factors plays a large role in the design and development of new products. About Michael

Michael Lau is a steadfast advocate of the user in medical product design and development. Michael leads Nemera's Human Factors Engineering capability, a group charged with ensuring that user needs are understood and met through design, and helping clients fulfill human factors regulatory requirements. Michael provides designers and engineers with key findings garnered from analytical and usabiltiy evaluations so that sound design decisions that satisfy both user needs and product requirements can be made early in development. Michael is Insight’s representative to the AAMI Human Factors Engineering standards committee, which authors HE 75 and has inputs into other national and international human factors standards. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo Kinesiology (Ergo) program, and he completed his MS and PhD in Industrial & Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan Center for Ergonomics.
