Disability sport and events hold immense potential to foster inclusion, challenge stereotypes and promote accessibility.
This presentation explores the role of disability sport as a catalyst for social change, emphasizing the broad potential impacts on individuals, communities, and policy frameworks. Drawing upon theories of ableism and structural violence, it will highlight challenges in creating truly inclusive spaces through sport and events, showcasing examples of success and innovative leadership opportunities.
By reimagining inclusion, this session highlights the transformative power of disability sport and presents critical perspectives that challenge ableist ideologies to champion more equitable and accessible practices in sport, recreation and leisure.
