Dr. Lili Liu has been reappointed as Dean of the Faculty of Health for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2024 until June 30, 2027. The appointment was strongly recommended by the Dean of Health Nominating Committee, which was formed last August, and approved yesterday by the Board of Governors.

Liu has served in the role of Dean since July 2019, and has advanced initiatives for both the Faculty of Health and the University of Waterloo as a whole. She has also been instrumental in setting the stage for the introduction of Indigenous initiatives as part of the Faculty’s strategic plan.

Prior to joining the Faculty, Liu chaired the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. She is an occupational therapist and holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a PhD, all from McGill University. Her research has focused on user adoption of technologies for rehabilitation assessments and interventions, as well as ways technologies can help older adults and family caregivers.
