Fun Run - Celebrating 31 years!
The 31st Annual Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) Fun Run was a great success!
Over 450 alumni, students, faculty, staff and members of the greater community took part in this year's Fun Run. Rain was in the forecast but the weather cleared up for us! Expert bib tag timing was provided to participants in the 5km race and the fun aspect of this annual event was showcased in the crazy costumes, face painting and balloon animals.
Runners and those cheering them on were entertained by The Water Boys, Waterloo's male a cappella ensemble. Jordynn from Orangetheory Fitness led everyone through warm-ups, accompanied by our very own AHSUM student society. Dean James W.E. Rush wished all the participants well in his opening remarks and referenced Health in 3D - AHS' new Impact Report.
$2234 was raised for UW Fitness' Teens in Motion program. Teens in Motion is an exercise program for teens struggling with their weight (12-16 yrs of age) to encourage participants to be more active, give them the confidence and skills to try new activities in their school or community and educate them on the importance of healthy eating.
Thanks again, stay connected with AHS and we hope to see you in 2017 for a special AHS Fun Run in celebration of AHS' 50th anniversary! Please enjoy AHS' Fall 2016 edition of News To You. If you didn't receive a print copy and would like one, please contact Wanda K. Deschamps.
