Celebrating 27 years!
The 27th Annual Applied Health Sciences Fun Run was a great success!
Although we were all expecting rain and cool temperatures, participants at the AHS Fun Run were surprised with a beautiful day. As a result, a record number of just over 300 participants took part in the Fun Run. Expert bib tag timing was provided to all participants in the 5km race, but the fun aspect of this annual event was still evident in the crazy costumes, face painting and balloon animals.
Susan Elliott, Dean of Applied Health Sciences, welcomed all the participants and ran in her third Fun Run. And Waterloo’s new Vice President of Advancement Ken McGillivray attended and participated in his first Fun Run in the role of Grand Marshal, wishing the runners good luck and starting the race.
Runners and those cheering them on were entertained by The Water Boys, Waterloo's male a cappella ensembl,e and AHS alum Dave Partridge known as DJ Furious George kept everyone moving to the music. Kinesiology alum Danielle VanDyk of the Urban Wellness Studio (BSc '08) led everyone through warm-ups, accompanied by our own AHSUM student society executive. Local chiropractor Dr. Gregory Lusk and his team from AIM Institute provided much appreciated post-race treatment.
