Strategic plan priority area 4: Collaboration and outreach

Advance strategic collaboration and outreach within Applied Health Sciences and with others

In Applied Health Sciences, collaboration drives many of our initiatives – like our RBC Retirement Research Centre at the University of Waterloo and our collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society through the Propel Centre for Population Health Impact. We are building on our current partnerships and exploring new collaborative relationships to address societal needs.

Together we will:

  • Facilitate collaborative relationships between organizations addressing societal needs and our faculty, staff and students with relevant expertise to enhance our ability to generate and mobilize knowledge
  • Actively engage in outreach to potential students, partners, the community and society
  • Draw upon collaborations and partnerships to enhance experiential learning and research opportunities for students, staff and faculty

Applied Health Sciences researchers - like Kinesiology's Richard Hughson - are taking collaboration to new heights. In partnership with the Canadian Space Agency, NASA and international researchers, Hughson is probing the effects of microgravity on cardiovascular health.
