A professor in the department of recreation and leisure studies, Dr. McCarville—"Ron" to his students—has impressed, motivated, and inspired many hundreds of students during his time at the University of Waterloo.
His efforts have been recognized with both Teaching Appreciation Awards from his home department and a Distinguished Teaching Award from the University. In the citation he is recognized as "an outstanding speaker and lecturer with an exceptional ability to maintain student interest through making his classes relevant, entertaining, and dynamic."
