Hiring Waterloo co-op students is now more flexible than ever
In light of the challenges brought on by COVID-19, we've increased our flexibility to make it easier than ever to access top student talent at Waterloo.

It's never too late to post a co-op job.
Our co-op program runs year-round, so we always have students available to hire for four- to eight-month work terms.
If you need access to talent, we'll find the perfect student for your organization as quickly as we can.

January - April 2021 Winter work term
Suggested work term dates: January 4 - April 23, 2021
(For work terms between January - April 2021, you can hire a student for 8 to 16 weeks with a minimum of 280 hours)
New, flexible hiring process for the Winter 2021 work term
For the Winter 2021 work term, we will be piloting a new hiring process that maximizes your choice, flexibility and convenience, while still being just as effective at connecting you with top student talent.
At a high-level, here’s what hiring for the Winter 2021 work term will look like:
- Choose from six different employment rounds to suit your schedule. Instead of our “first” and “continuous” interview cycles, there will now be more rounds to make the hiring process faster, with the first match happening in October.
- You can also make offers to students directly any time after December 11, 2020.
- All interviews will continue to take place remotely until further notice.
- Work term can now range from 8-16 weeks with a minimum of 280 hours
NOTE: This change will not affect the hiring process for Architecture and Pharmacy students who have unique sequences - see below for dates.

At a high-level, here’s what hiring for the Spring/Summer 2021 work term will look like:

Recruitment updates due to COVID-19
All interviews will take place remotely until further notice.
To ensure the safety of all students and employers, and limit the spread of COVID-19, all interviews will be held via Skype, webcam or phone. Interviews are scheduled via WaterlooWorks, but you will connect with the student directly via phone or email. See more details below:
Phone: Call each student directly during their scheduled interview time slot via the phone number provided on your interview schedule.
Webcam: You will need to provide each student with a link and any necessary instructions prior to their scheduled interview time slot. Please contact them directly via their email address provided on your interview schedule the day before to discuss setting up a webcam interview.
