City of Kitchener Municipal data update (2019)

Received from the City of Kitchener, 2019 municipal data updates including:  Bridges (Ontario Structure Inspection manual), Property Unit Location (base, vertical, horizontal), Zoning, Edge of Pavement, Impervious Area (non-residential: parking lots, walkways, driveways), Planning Intensification Areas, Road Island and Buildings.

GIS Day: November 13, 2019

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day is an international event where users of GIS are encouraged to open their doors and share how they use this technology.

GIS Day 2019 will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Geospatial Centre in the Dana Porter Library.

Ever wanted to try Open Source GIS but didn’t know where to start?

This workshop builds on “Getting Started with ArcGIS” (a recommended prerequisite for those with no previous GIS experience) but isn’t absolutely necessary. It will go through the in's and out's of QGIS and also cover other alternative Open Source GIS platforms.

Workshop: Dynamic Flood Simulation with HEC-RAS

Wednesday, November 20th - 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This workshop is a primer for working with computational hydrology software and, as such, assumes a good grounding in most GIS concepts of spatial and raster analysis. The tutorial is designed to get you comfortable with HEC RAS's specific requirements for creating a dynamic flood simulation.
