Applied Mathematics
The Department of Applied Mathematics has 30 faculty members and over 110 graduate students. Our wide range of interdisciplinary research provides a stimulating environment for our graduate programs. Research areas in the department include control and dynamical systems, fluid mechanics, mathematical medicine and biology, mathematical physics, and scientific computing.
Programs
Master of Mathematics (MMath) in Applied Mathematics
Options: Co-op, Quantum Information specialization, Water specialization
The MMath thesis is a comprehensive study that contributes to the understanding of a research topic, either by relating various approaches in the literature or by developing new methods.
Co-op: Students will be able to combine graduate studies with work experience. The program is normally seven or eight terms long, with two work terms and five or six academic terms.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Applied Mathematics
Options: Quantum Information specialization, Water specialization
The PhD consists of one year of graduate courses followed by three years of research. The program culminates in a dissertation that represents a significant contribution to your selected field of research.
