Mathematics Faculty Council Bylaws

Effective April 22, 2025

Meetings

Mathematics Faculty Council (Hereinafter called "Faculty Council" will meet in accordance with the rules specified in the Faculty Constitution, normally twice in Fall and twice in Winter/Spring.

Amendment

Amendments shall be approved by a process described in the Faculty Constitution.

Faculty Committees

Administrative Committee

The rules governing the Administrative Committee are described in the Faculty Constitution.

Undergraduate Affairs Committee (UAC)

The rules governing the Undergraduate Affairs Committee, including a list of voting members, are described in the Faculty Constitution. The non-voting membership of this committee shall consist of persons as the Chair shall from time to time appoint, including the following:

  • Ex Officio

    • Faculty Relations Manager – Mathematics in Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE) (non-voting);
    • Assistant Dean Core and Service Teaching (non-voting);
    • Director of the Mathematics Undergraduate Office or delegate (non-voting).
  • Elected / Appointed

    • One representative of the Software Engineering program, appointed by the Director of Software Engineering (non-voting);
    • One representative of the Mathematics Business programs (non-voting);
    • One representative of the Math Studies program (non-voting);
    • One representative of the Computational Math program (non-voting);
    • One representative of the Registrar's Office (non-voting).

Undergraduate Standings and Promotions Committee

The rules governing the Undergraduate Standings and Promotions Committee, including a list of voting members, are described in the Faculty Constitution. The non-voting membership of this committee shall consist of persons as the Chair shall from time to time appoint, including the following:

  • Elected / Appointed

    • Two representatives of the Registrar's Office (non-voting), one of whom shall be secretary;
    • One representative from Computing and Financial Management (non-voting);
    • One representative from the Mathematics/Teaching Plan (non-voting).

Graduate Studies Committee

The rules governing the Graduate Studies Committee, including a list of voting members, are described in the Faculty Constitution. The non-voting membership of this committee shall consist of persons as the Chair shall from time to time appoint, including the following:

  • Ex Officio

    • The Faculty Graduate and Post-doctoral Affairs Manager (non-voting), who shall be secretary;
    • The director (or delegate) of each cross-faculty graduate program in the Faculty of Mathematics.

Mathematics Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee

The rules governing the Mathematics Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee are described in University Policy 77 and the Faculty Constitution.

Honorary Degrees Committee

The rules governing the Honorary Degrees Committee are described in the Faculty Constitution.

Computing Advisory Committee

The rules governing the Computing Advisory Committee are described in the Faculty Constitution. The Chair may, from time to time, appoint additional non-voting members including the following:

  • Ex Officio

    • The Assistant Dean Online.

Faculty Committee on Student Appeals (FCSA)

The rules governing the Faculty Committee on Student Appeals are described in the Faculty Constitution.
