Pure Mathematics equips individuals with essential problem-solving skills that are highly valuable in industries such as business, government and academia.
 
David McKinnon, a professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, highlights the significant value of the major, stating: "University of Waterloo Pure Math prepares its students extremely well for the next step. We've had grads work in Silicon Valley, at major banks, and pursue PhDs at institutions like Harvard, Princeton, and MIT. The future of Waterloo Pure Math grads is very bright."
 
“Every single professor who teaches Pure Math loves what they do, and because they're passionate, they are always willing to help the students,” mentions Simardeep Singh, a student in Pure Math. “I'm hoping to be a professor one day—that is my ultimate goal and Pure Math opens a really good opportunity for that.”
 
“To me, the future of Pure Math is the passing down and fostering of knowledge. Personally, I'm hoping to go into academia and do some research,” says Remington Zhi, a student majoring in Pure Math and Physics (Double Major).”
