Paul MacLellan, BMath '95, President, Medical Advantage Group

Paul MacLellan is an industry leader in health care quality improvement, value-based contracting, and population health management. He has a deep understanding of how to successfully integrate technology with process improvement methodology to drive positive health care delivery system outcomes. His organization creates the change needed to solve the challenges businesses face in health care.

As president of Medical Advantage Group, Paul expanded the company into new markets, grew revenue by 400%, and has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in documented value for clients. Through his leadership, Medical Advantage has become a nationally recognized health care solutions company.

Before joining Medical Advantage Group, Paul, was a Director at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan where he was responsible for leading IT for the organization’s Chief Medical Officer. In this role, he was a key architect in the development of the organization’s first fully integrated data solution to support a set of health care improvement programs that distribute $250M in incentives per year to the organizations that deliver the best care.

Mr. MacLellan’s experience also includes the launch of two start-up companies, Route One, an automotive finance software platform, and RealAge, an online health risk appraisal system.

Mr. MacLellan holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo. His major was Business Administration with a specialization in Information Systems. His co-op placements were at Kimberly-Clark and CGI Consulting.

Paul and his wife Lisa are originally from Brantford, Ontario. Today Paul, Lisa, and their two teenage children Nathan and Jacob reside in Plymouth, Michigan.
