Student scholarships and awards

Student studying diligently

The Waterloo Faculty of Mathematics attracts talented and ambitious students.

Once here, they are immersed in an unrivalled educational environment– one that combines rigorous mathematical training with real-world experience at leading workplaces. This education challenges students to think bigger about the problems that matter and equips them with the tools they need to lead.

But finances can hold students back.

The annual cost of books, tuition, and living expenses is high and is substantially greater for graduate and international students. As government subsidies decrease and the cost of living increases, the need to offer student aid is greater than ever.

You can help by creating a scholarship.

Scholarships and awards enable students unlock their full potential. By easing students' financial burden, scholarships empower students to focus wholly on their educational opportunities and make the most of their time here. At the same time, scholarships and awards allow Waterloo to continue attracting the best math and computer science students from across the world.

A named trust supports an award for a specific time period and requires a minimum gift of $10,000 for an undergraduate award or $20,000 for a graduate award.

A named endowment invests funds in perpetuity to create a continuous revenue stream in support a chosen program. An endowment requires a minimum of $40,000 for an undergraduate award and $50,000 for a graduate award.

No matter how brilliant or hard-working, every student benefits from support on their Waterloo journey. Create a scholarship and help our students to thrive as leaders and innovators.

I feel honoured and fortunate for all the opportunities I’ve had. Everyone I’ve worked with at Waterloo has been so supportive and encouraging. I don’t know exactly where things will lead me, but I’m motivated to do work that helps make the world a better place, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
