Esri Canada is pleased to announce the 2015 International Esri Young Scholars Award program. The award is available to any candidate studying GIS at a Canadian university or college subject to the terms and conditions listed below.
· Applicants need to have used Esri technology to complete a project or conduct interesting research.
· Applicants must be enrolled full-time in undergraduate or graduate program (or graduated in 2014) from a college or university.
· The successful candidate will be asked to submit their poster (see below under What to Submit) to Esri for display at the User Conference in San Diego.
· The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining the necessary visas for their visit (if applicable).
Highlights of the Young Scholar program include:
· Airfare and living expenses for you to attend the annual Esri Education Conference and full International User Conference (UC) in San Diego, California (July 17-24, 2015).
· Complimentary registration for the both conferences.
· Attend social event to meet other international Young Scholars.
· Display and present your work and interact with other Young Scholar recipients at the GIS Solutions Expo Reception.
· Present your poster in the UC Map Gallery.
· Attend the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award Ceremony to receive formal recognition for your award.
· Participation in Facebook group for international Young Scholars
Selection criteria?
Submissions to Esri Canada will be reviewed within 3 weeks by a panel comprising academic and business members.
What to submit?
If you meet the terms and conditions and you would like to be considered for the award, you must submit the following to highered@esri.ca no later than 5.00 pm Friday, April 10, 2015:
A poster that highlights the objectives, methods and results of your use of Esri technology (for quality printing all graphics must be high resolution in the range of 300 .dpi). If applicants are Esri Canada Scholarship winners for 2014 they may use the same map poster that they submitted for the Esri Canada Scholarship Program provided it complies with the following requirement.
· Posters must be created only by the applicant.
· Posters must be submitted in .pdf format – consideration will be given for design and presentation as well as content. Orientation should be portrait for the display boards in San Diego and dimensions 24” x 36”.
· A summary paper (800-1000 words maximum, including maps) that explains your work, that can include additional diagrams and explanation of the research.
· An academic transcript.
· Full contact information.
· Institution name and program of study.
· You must arrange for a separate letter of recommendation to be sent to highered@esri.ca from a professor you have worked closely with.
