Contribution to Science Award

Award criteria

The Faculty of Science established the Contribution to Science Award to honour and recognize Science alumni who have supported the Faculty of Science through their research and discovery OR who have advanced their field of science through discovery and breakthrough. This prestigious award is bestowed upon alumni who demonstrate significant contribution(s) in one or more of the following areas, in recognition of their accomplishments:

  • Contribution to the broader scientific community through discovery and breakthrough, as demonstrated through advances to their field of science.
  • This award might also consider proven and significant citizenship to the Faculty of Science. This may include, but is not limited to: 
    Science promotion and outreach. Increasing the profile and accessibility of Science; Generating and supporting Science knowledge and awareness; Philanthropic support; Volunteering; Mentoring; Involvement with committees, boards, panels; and/or Advocacy.

Eligibility

Nominees must be a graduate of the University of Waterloo Faculty of Science undergraduate and/or graduate program(s).

This award can be bestowed on individuals or groups of two or more.

Nomination process

The Faculty of Science welcomes nominations for the Contribution to Science Award from alumni, students, staff, retirees and members of the public.

To nominate an alumnus for the Contribution to Science Award, a short online nomination form must be completed, including all mandatory fields, for an individual to be considered.
