Nithin Aaron is a theorist at heart, currently studying quantum computing as a Master of Science in Physics (Quantum Information) student at the University of Waterloo. Aaron knew he excelled at math, physics, and chemistry, and particularly enjoyed physics, but it wasn’t until he took an introductory quantum mechanics course in his second year that he discovered quantum computing and was instantly fascinated. This realization led him to focus most of his upper-year electives on math and physics courses and to eventually pursue his education further in graduate school.

Toronto was buzzing as the University of Waterloo’s Science and Business Program made a big splash at the 2024 Collision Conference, held from June 24-27. Collision, one of North America’s premier tech gatherings, brought together the best and brightest in tech, startups, and innovation.

Anthony Dang, this year’s Alumni Gold Medal winner, is finishing his undergraduate degree on a high note. The Alumni Gold Medal recognizes the academic achievement of graduating students in each of the six faculties at Waterloo. Anthony is a graduate of the Biochemistry Co-op program and this year’s Science recipient.
