Sophia is committed to creating a work environment where individual differences are celebrated, and people can express their authentic selves within the workplace.

Each term, GreenHouse hosts the Social Impact Showcase to celebrate the amazing work on students in our community. Last week, thirteen teams pitched their ideas of social and environmental change and eight were awarded funding, including Science-led MycoNutrients and HUBour.

An end of year project, sparked Science and Business 2B student Darren Harry Baine's passion to help youth in his home country of Uganda. His drive to create change and be part of the solution led him to create a non-profit foundation and an youth-focused YouTube series before joining Waterloo. 

An immigration app and waste plastic conversion technology were two Science companies competing in Concept's Spring '22 $5K pitch competition. The competition offers the opportunity for University of Waterloo student led companies with innovative solutions and high potential business ideas to showcase their hard work and compete for grant funding. 

Throughout the pandemic, students in the WatSolve Consulting Group have continued to provide support for small science companies to find their niche in the market, through management consulting. The University of Waterloo is well known for its experiential learning experiences, and the Science and Business program is no exception.
