Dr. David Bazett-Jones is an international leader in cell imaging whose research has had a major impact in our understanding of the structure and function of the cell nucleus.

After completing his Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto and a post-doctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at the Scripps Research Institute in La Lolla, California, he was appointed to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He rose rapidly through the ranks becoming a full professor in 1997. In 2001 he was recruited as a Senior Scientist for The Hospital for Sick Children, and is a Professor in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto.

He has published over 130 papers and has been invited to give over 90 seminars at national and international venues. Over his career, Dr. Bazett-Jones has won numerous awards and held the Canada Research Chair in Molecular and Cellular Imaging from 2002 to 2016.
