The University of Waterloo offers a number of different activities and enrichment opportunities for children, youths and teachers. Get excited about science and explore more about its many fascinating applications.

Science Open House

Kindergarten to Grade 8

Each fall the Faculty of Science holds an Science Open House event for the public. This free event is the result of a collaborative effort which brings together activities from all science departments to showcase the wonders of science.

The University of Waterloo will host this year's Science Open House on October 26th, 2013  from 10 am to 4 pm.

The Let's Talk Science Challenge

Grades 6, 7 and 8

This enrichment event is an exciting question and answer competition with fun, hands-on design challenges that inspires Grade 6, 7 and 8 students to acquire science knowledge beyond their curriculum. Participants work in teams of four to study the Challenge Handbook, which covers a tremendous range of science material. All this preparation culminates in a one day event, with parents and classmates invited to cheer on their teams! Prizes are awarded to the winners and participation certificates are awarded to all team members.

Engineering Science Quest (ESQ)

Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) is a not-for-profit program that operates with the goal of exposing children, in the Kitchener-Waterloo region and beyond, to the worlds of Engineering, Science and Technology through a variety of fun engaging hands on activities. Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students (QCSYS)

The Institute for Quantum Computing in conjunction with the University of Waterloo presents an exciting week-long summer program offered to students in Grades 10-12. Students will be given a first-hand look into one of the most exciting topics in modern science- quantum cryptography. Not only will students be exposed to cutting-edge topics like quantum physics and cryptography - they will have the opportunity to meet some of the most renowned researchers the field has to offer. Perimeter Institute Student Outreach Programs

Perimeter Institute plays an active role in highlighting the wonders and importance of scientific research by providing a multitude of educational outreach programs. The content in each activity is specifically tailored to reach and inspire specific core audiences. Our programs and resources for students aim to inspire students with the wonders of the world and motivate them to continue studies in physics.
