TikTok Tyson

Tyson McGavin (BGBDA ’22) is fostering community among game players and embracing the emerging digital marketing landscape of TikTok. He recently surpassed the 500K follower milestone for Big Blue Bubble’s My Singing Monsters account. 

Earlier this year, a team of three Global Business and Digital Arts students participated in the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) Case Competition, placing among the top 3 finalists. This annual competition aims to match one of MLSE’s sports properties with a brand to create a mutually beneficial partnership proposal.  

Daniel Harley, professor at the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business and Games Institute faculty member, co-authored “Playing by Ear: Designing for the Physical in a Sound-Based Virtual Reality Narrative” with Aneesh P. Tarun, Bonnie J. Stinson, Tudor Tibu, and Ali Mazalek.

This past weekend, over 100 industry professionals, students and speakers participated in BLND - the annual business and design conference hosted by the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business.

2020 Looking Back, Moving Forward

2020 was a year we will never forget. It was not the year we expected, but in true Warrior spirit, our students and the team at Stratford showed their resiliency, ambition, courage, creativity, and ability to shape the future and overcome many challenges. Here are a few of the highlights we are celebrating from this past year.

Lennart Nacke has partnered with Alpha Labs, Wiggles 3D, and MLD Solutions to help these companies tackle challenging problems they are facing. Mitacs Accelerate grants support collaborative research between faculty at academic institutions, non-academic partners, and research interns.

73 students created innovative solutions to a privacy design challenge at uXperience | Think Privacy – the annual fall design camp hosted by the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business – competing for more than $7,400 in prizes. Students were challenged to design a solution inspired by the increased need for virtual connection brought on by COVID-19.
