Canadian immigration changes permanent residents and international students should know

The Government of Canada has recently made some significant changes to its regulations. These changes will affect students who are seeking Canadian citizenship and international undergraduate students who may still be eligible for inclusion as a dependant on a parent's Permanent Residence application.

Schedule change for Fall Break study days

There are no classes during Fall Break study days on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Please be aware of schedule changes for the Thursday and Friday following the break. 

  • Thursday, October 12 - classes will follow the Tuesday schedule 
  • Friday, October 13 - classes will follow the Wednesday schedule.

Start planning for an international exchange

Applications to go on exchange during Spring 2018, Fall 2018 and Winter 2019, are scheduled to open on Waterloo Passport on October 1, 2017.

Undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in going abroad while studying at Waterloo are encouraged to begin researching options now. With over 100+ partner institutions around the world, there are many opportunities to explore.

Grand River Transit workers set to strike Monday

A Grand River Transit labour disruption is looking likely for Monday, April 3, beginning at 5:00 a.m.

Unifor Local 4304, which includes GRT bus operators, dispatchers, mechanics and service attendants, did not ratify the terms of a new contract that had been recommended by the Unifor bargaining committee. Read the announcements on the GRT site.
