Extension of special measures for Iranian temporary residents in Canada

IRCC has extended the period of the special measures for Iranian temporary residents inside Canada that were first introduced on March 1, 2023.  The special measures continue to be active and have now been extended until February 28, 2025. 

Under this public policy, Iranian temporary residents in Canada can:

• Extend their current temporary resident status, or
• Change their temporary resident status (for example, from a visitor to a worker), or
• Apply for an additional open work permit or study permit.

For all of the above listed applications, Iranian temporary residents in Canada do not have to pay application fees or biometrics fees.
