Extension of temporary immigration measures for Israeli and Palestinian Nationals in Canada

Wednesday, July 17, 2024

As a result of the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has introduced temporary special measures to support nationals of Israel and Palestine already in Canada with a valid temporary status.

In addition to these measures, IRCC has also established a temporary resident pathway for Palestinians directly affected by the crisis in Gaza who have Canadian citizen or permanent resident family members in Canada willing to support them.

These temporary measures began on December 21, 2023 and were initially set to expire on June 12, 2024.  As recently announced by IRCC, these measures will now expire on July 31, 2025

Nationals of Israel or the Palestinian Territories who are in Canada with a valid temporary resident status may be eligible for to apply for a fee-exempt study permit or open work permit. If you meet the eligibility requirements for these temporary measures, please navigate to this IRCC page to begin your application.
