The Computing and Financial Management (CFM) program is excited to announce that it will be introducing three new courses as part of its core curriculum as of fall 2021. Students starting in the program in September next year will be the first official cohort to take these classes as part of their degree requirements.

During the month of October, four upper-year students in the Computing and Financial Management (CFM) program hosted a case competition for first-year CFM students. This is the first time that this kind of event has been held to introduce students to case-style problems.

CFM team wins at Hack the Valley

A team of first-year Computing and Financial Management (CFM) students were successful in their weekend-long participation in Hack the Valley at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus, winning the Best Mapping and Travel Hack Award presented by HiRide.

The fifth annual HackHarvard invited students from the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and beyond to explore the intersection of technology and society by building projects over the course of the 36-hour hackathon.

The HackHarvard team focused on providing quality and accessibility to people who had never touched a line of code. One third of attendees were non-computer science majors and many were first-time hackers. CFM students Ayman and Ammar were selected to participate in the event showing their prowess in computer science and finance.

The Computing and Financial Management (CFM) program is happy to welcome James Thompson, Associate Professor from the School of Accounting and Finance and  Justin Wan, Professor from the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science.

Ben's Mentorship experience

Hello! I’m Ben(jamin) and I was a mentor for the CFM class of 2018. I just completed my 2A term and was working in Waterloo for my second co-op during winter 2019. I was a Blockchain Developer for a start-up in downtown Toronto called NxM Labs and I’m currently working as an Investment Developer at Equitable Life in Waterloo.

My name is Janine and I’m in 4B enrolled in the Computing and Financial Management program. I’m currently on exchange in Hong Kong at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) for my Winter 2019 term.

My name is Andy Wang and I graduated in 2013 from the class of 2008.

I only knew computer science (CS) back in grade 12 and didn’t know a thing about accounting or finance. I saw this program randomly and wanted to take on a challenge in addition to the CS side. I’m so glad I did and things have worked out!
