Featuring Tao Chen's Big Data Research Lab
One word to describe Tao's research: interdisciplinary.
An Associate Professor of Economics, Tao has recently started to explore the medical world and turned his focus toward collaborating with psychiatrists. He has co-authored with researchers from many different faculties including Mathematics/Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Psychology. Currently, there are two medical devices ready for hospital development that Tao has developed based on his team's research results.
The first device is the Niacin Skin Response Analyzer. It is the very first device in human history that defines phospholipid metabolism level and neurotrophic status based on monitoring results and then offers a brain-health report. The report assists clinicians to make diagnoses and intervention plans.
The second device is an eye-movement detection analyzer. The logic behind this is that saccadic eye movements have been used in mental disorder clinical and scientific research areas like depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and others.
These two devices have been adopted by 20+ specialized hospitals, 10+ research institutes and serve more than 6K youths and 200+ seniors.
