For over 50 years the Faculty of Environment has been dedicated to having a positive impact locally and globally. With interdisciplinary programs and research, our community of students, faculty, alumni, donors and staff make meaningful change happen in the classroom, the office, and in communities around the world. Our vision is to use our unique position as a leading teaching and research institute for the environment to create sustainable solutions needed to address the complex challenges facing our world.

  1. Jan. 23, 2020Waves of migrants escaping sea level rise could flood urban centres inland

    On the heels the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees warning at Davos that sea level rise will force millions around the world to relocate away from coastal areas. A new study co-authored by a University of Waterloo researcher offers the first clear tool to predict where these climate migrants could move to due to climate change, and how this will affect communities.

    The dean of the Faculty of Environment Jean Andrey has been reappointed for her second term after recent votes at Senate and the Board of Governors’ Executive Committee. Senate voted on November 20 to recommend that the President recommend the reappointments to the Board Executive Committee.

    Geography and Environmental Management researcher Susan Elliott is co-editing a new journal focused on human health and the built environment along with Jamie Pearce a professor of Health Geography at the University of Edinburgh.
