The Games Institute Showcase Event, March 10th 2016!

Director of The Games Institute, Dr. Neil Randall, was recently featured in an article discussing credit card loyalty programs and gamification. The article written by Aaron Broverman was originally published on November 12th, 2015.
On Wednesday, September 16th, the Director of The Games Institute gave a State of the Union speech to all GI members. Neil Randall has been reinstated as the Director of the institute for the next four years, along with Associate Director Mark Hancock for the next three years. This talk addressed the growing population of student and faculty members currently involved with the institute to outline the research focus and vision of The Games Institute.

This week The Games Institute Director Neil Randall sat down with the CBC Radio broadcast Spark for the segment 'Room escape games’ are putting a new spin on immersive gaming.'

This week at The Games Institute we are highlighting the work of PhD candidate Steve Wilcox. From the English Language and Literature department at the University of Waterloo, his research examines various forms of art such as literature, comics, and videogames and their capacity to expand the number and range of experiences humans undergo. Steve’s research at The Games Institute revolves around the idea that games excel at teaching players how to situate knowledge.
