Alumni award eligibility and criteria

Purpose

To recognize and honour Faculty of Health alumni who impact the health and wellbeing of society through significant professional accomplishments, public service, and support to the University of Waterloo.

Faculty of Health Alumni Inspiration Award eligibility

An award will be given each year to the selected nominee who:

  • Has graduated within the last 10 years from the Faculty of Health at the University of Waterloo
  • Has achieved a notable level of success based upon, but not necessarily limited to the following criteria, including activities that inspire their peers, other young alumni, recent graduates, and current Faculty of Health students

Faculty, staff and retirees are ineligible for the Faculty of Health Alumni Inspiration Award. Please note this award was formerly called the Young Alumni Award.

Faculty of Health Alumni Achievement Award eligibility*

An award will be given each year to the selected nominee who:

  • Is a graduate of the Faculty of Health (undergraduate and/or graduate)
  • Graduated at least 10 years ago
  • Has achieved a notable level of success based upon, but not necessarily limited to the following criteria, including activities that inspire their peers, other Health and UWaterloo alumni, and current Faculty of Health students

Faculty, staff and retirees are ineligible for the Faculty of Health Alumni Achievement Award.

*If a nominee has previously received the Young Alumni Award, the expectation is that a significant amount of time has elapsed (e.g. 15 years) before they can be nominated for the Alumni Achievement Award.

Selection criteria

  • Demonstrated professional achievements: career advancement, leadership, professional recognition, and accomplishments within their field.
  • Demonstrated public (local or global) service: voluntary leadership roles in the community or through public or humanitarian service, significant impact on the community through socially responsible activities.
  • Demonstrated support to the University of Waterloo: support of UWaterloo initiatives through philanthropy and/or activities including involvement in UWaterloo programs and/or service on UWaterloo or Faculty of Health boards/committees/project teams. Being an advocate for Waterloo, or attending events.
  • Additional information that doesn’t necessarily fit in any of the categories above for example, personal success, overcoming personal challenges, or maintaining work-life balance will also be considered.

Selection process

  • Nominations will be accepted until April 30, 2024.
  • Nominators will be contacted to submit additional information.
  • The Advisory Committee will review the qualifications of the nominees and provide a recommendation to the Dean for selection.
