The Dean's Advisory Committee on Health and Well-being is hosting a workshop ,"Incorporating Wellness into Course Syllabi", for Faculty of Health instructors.
Date: December 20, 2022
Time: 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
Location: Zoom
In this syllabus workshop, Dr. Christine Logel will provide tools on how instructors can incorporate wellness into their course syllabi. You will have a chance to review your syllabus based on psychology-based research evidence, and revise it based on your knowledge of your own students. At the end of the workshop, you will know how to make your syllabus effectively communicate your belief that all students can succeed and that all students belong, that you value diversity, and that you care about students. You can choose to use this same messaging in many other venues for communication with students, including: Learn, emails, lectures or asynchronous videos, and assignment instructions.
Hundreds of instructors in Canada and the US have participated in this workshop. The vast majority report that they would recommend it to a colleague, and students' ratings of a sample of "before" and "after" syllabi show that this workshop is effective in improving syllabus messaging.
Instructors should have a syllabus from one of their courses open for their own review during the workshop.
