Measuring our wellbeing goes beyond economic indicators.

Healthy Populations • Education • Community Vitality • Living Standards
Leisure & Culture • Time Use • Democratic Engagement • Environment

These are the essential domains of our wellbeing.

More than a decade ago, a group of experts from the academic, private, public, and non-profit sectors set out to create a composite measure of wellbeing that incorporates all of these domains of life. Comprehensive reports have been developed for each domain and they have been incorporated into the first comprehensive index of wellbeing in Canada.

Please join us as Dr. Alex Michalos discusses the vision and development of the Canadian Index of Wellbeing, and provides us with some initial reflections on and a “sneak peek” of the composite CIW prior to its release in October 2011.
