A management engineering student who worked at Tesla during the winter term in 2021 has been recognized with an honorable mention in the annual Co-op Student of the Year Awards at the University of Waterloo.

Nimisha Saxena, who is in her fourth year, worked as a technical program manager intern at the electric automaker, assisting with the development of a third-party risk management (TPRM) program.

Management engineering students Omar Atwa and Omkaar Kamath recently earned a first place finish at the 2022 Canadian Engineering Competition, which was hosted virtually by the University of New Brunswick, Frederictorn. 

Omar and Omkaar competed in the re-engineering competition, where"competitors must redesign an existing product or process to either improve its functionality or to adapt it for a completely new purpose".  The designs are "judged based on functionality, practicality, feasibility, and marketability".

Management Sciences professors Samir Elhedhli, Fatma Gzara, and Mehrdad Pirnia were recently featured in an informative event that delivered practical insights for industry on the application of artificial intelligence to address supply chain challenges.

Dr. Kourosh Malek, a Management Sciences PhD alumnus and currently Head of AI and Data Analytics at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH was also a featured panelist. 

Shoukry Saleh, a retired faculty member who helped build a Waterloo Engineering department, died on August 9 at the age of 91.

In 1968, he was one of four professors recruited by Archibald Sherburne, then dean of Waterloo Engineering, to establish the Faculty’s management sciences department.

Instrumental to its launch the following year, Saleh served as department chair from September 1974 to August 1978.

Sheha Akbari, who will graduate from management engineering on June 19 2021, is passionate about making a difference to Afghan women and youth. To say she made the most of her five years as a Waterloo Engineering student could just be an understatement. Read the full story on Waterloo News

Today the Faculty of Engineering has shared detailed and program specific class format plans for September 2021 with our incoming and current students.

Each department has posted details in a LEARN course for current undergraduate engineering students and in a TEAMS channel for current architecture students. These details are based on the information we shared with the Registrar’s Office, which is responsible for University-wide schedules and classroom space.
