Management Engineering and Management Sciences graduating students participated in the Spring 2023 convocation, held on the evening of Saturday, June 17. The event celebrated the achievements of a new generation of graduates.
Two management engineering graduates received special recognition. Charles Yu received the University of Waterloo Alumni Gold Medal, as well as a Sandford Fleming Foundation Medal for Co-operative Work Term Proficiency. Julian Curalli won a Sandford Fleming Foundation Medal in Academic Excellence.

Fifteen management engineering capstone design projects were recently showcased at the 2023 Management Engineering Capstone Design Symposium. The award recognizes staff who make outstanding contributions to the learning and working environment in the Faculty of Engineering.
Management Sciences professor Saeed Ghadimi has been recognized by an international organization for work involving the interface between computer science and operations research. He shared an annual prize from the INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) Computing Society (ICS) for the best paper or group of papers in the field.

Second year Management Engineering student Ayush Bhargava is co-founder of Sway - a social commerce platform that allows creators to sell brand-partnered products and customer merchandise directly to their audience on their social media page. After winning a Concept $5K Grant in 2020, Sway recently got accepted in the Velocity Incubator, where the co-founders will receive support as they refine their initial start up idea, business model and proof of concept over the next several months.
