Event Info

Paris is Burning creates a vibrant snapshot of 1980s African-American ball culture in New York City. The film features a host of legendary performers including Pepper LaBeija, Dorian Corey, Venus Xtravaganza, Willi Nija.

Voguing, throwing shade, realness, fierceness.  It all started in the ball scene featured in the movie.

The film touches on topics of poverty and homophobia, which were prevalent in the queer community at the time. It documents the severe racism, violence, and discrimination faced by the ballroom culture. This movie projects themes of strength, resilience against adversity, and tolerance.
