You're invited to indulge in a slice of Canada in Seattle! Held at the headquarters of FLEXE, the evening features reminiscing about Canada and Waterloo and celebrating Canada's 150th birthday, UWaterloo's 60th birthday, and the Faculty of Mathematics' 50th anniversary with Canadian-inspired food and Canadian prizes! This event is open to all engineering and math alumni and current engineering and math students living/working in the Seattle area.
This event is hosted, in partnership with FLEXE, by Edmond Yue (BASc 2005, Computer Engineering), co-founder and COO at FLEXE. Edmond and FLEXE co-founder and CTO, Francis Duong, will do a tech talk titled The Startup - There and Back Again touching on areas of their experience of building a startup in Seattle, San Francisco and Vancouver, challenges of attracting and keeping tech talent in each city, joining YCombinator and the advantages of being part of an incubator, starting a company as a Canadian without permanent residence in the USA, as well as visa and immigration challenges.
You will have an opportunity to catch up with your classmates from Waterloo Engineering and Waterloo Math as well as current undergraduate engineering and math students currently on their work terms in the Seattle area.
