2012 International Olympiad in Informatics

From September 23 to September 30, Troy Vasiga and J.P. Pretti accompanied "Team Canada" to Italy for the 24th International Olympiad in Informatics. Over 80 countries and 300 students participated. Contestants competed by writing computer programs to solve challenging algorithmic tasks on two five-hour days of competition. We are very proud of the results achieved by our team of:

  • Vitalik Buterin (1A Computer Science at Waterloo),
  • Daniel Hui (Woburn Collegiate Institute in Toronto)
  • Angus Kong (Vincent Massey Secondary School in Windsor), and
  • Geoffry Song (1A Computer Science at Waterloo).

They returned to Canada with two silver medals and a bronze medal.

We also congratulate Hristijan Bogoevski who is also a 1A Computer Science student in our faculty and earned a bronze medal competing for Macedonia.
