David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science researcher Ian Goldberg has been named a tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Privacy Enhancing Technologies.
Professor Goldberg’s Canada Research Chair comes with $1.4 million in funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council over seven years (2019–26) to create and expand privacy enhancing technologies — systems that allow people to protect their privacy online.
Goldberg is one of 14 University of Waterloo researchers named new or renewing Canada Research Chairs (CRC).The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport, made the announcement at the University of Victoria on June 14. Over $275 million will support 346 Canada Research Chairs deemed world-class scientists and scholars.
