I am writing from the Kazan International Airport in Russia. Troy Vasiga and I are about to begin our journey home from IOI 2016. We are proud leaders of a great team of students who represented Canada at this year's international algorithmic programming competition.
All four students are returning with a medal:
- Timothy Li won a gold medal finishing in 7th place out of over 300 competitors from more than 80 countries. He will be entering 1A Computer Science at Waterloo this September.
- Kevin Sun earned a silver medal finishing in 27th place overall.
- Also joining the Faculty of Mathematics at Waterloo this fall term are Jeffrey Xiao and Farbod Yadegarian, who each won a bronze medal. They are both from Toronto.
All of these are outstanding accomplishments to be proud of.
