The University of Waterloo community gathers in June and October each year to celebrate the awarding of degrees at convocation. Ceremonies are held in the main gymnasium of the Physical Activities Complex (PAC). Ceremonies begin at 10:00 am and 2:30 pm.

The sections below will help you prepare for convocation:

Before you graduate

Receiving your degree is one of the most exciting moments in your undergraduate career. Follow the steps below to make sure you're prepared.

  1. Verify your degree requirements.
  2. File your Intent to Graduate Form

    • Deadlines for undergraduate students: December 1st for Spring Convocation and August 1st for Fall convocation.
    • Deadlines for graduate students: April 30th for Spring convocation and August 31st for Fall convocation.
    • All students must apply to graduate or their degree will not be awarded.
    • Forms can be filled out and submitted online.
  3. Check your unofficial transcript on Quest to ensure you have been recommended to graduate in the “Degrees Awarded” section.
  4. Clear any outstanding fees on your student account, including parking and library fines by June 1st for Spring convocation and October 1st for Fall convocation. Your diploma and transcript will be withheld if you have any outstanding fees.
  5. Confirm your mailing, home address and email addresses on Quest by April 1st for Spring convocation and August 1st for Fall convocation. This will ensure you receive your convocation invitation and information regarding tax receipts. Note: Alumni have access to Quest indefinitely to generate statements of account and access tax
    receipts.
