Originating from Thornhill, Ridhima loves the sense of independence that she feels as a Waterloo student and is extremely grateful to have such approachable professors. Her first work term, was in the Dean of Mathematics Office as a communications associate. She enjoyed making connections within the Mathematics faculty while developing her communication, leadership, and marketing skills; all skills that make her even more employable for future work terms. Ridhima’s future career goal is to eventually work in finance or accounting and then plans to become a chartered financial analyst.
Ridhima’s favourite classes so far have been Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) 101 and 102, and Mathematics (MATH) 137 - Calculus with Professor Mike Eden. Her most memorable experience at Waterloo? Residence in Ron Eydt Village (REV) during her first year, “it was such a fun residence… it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had. I made friends that I’ll have for the rest of my life”.
But, Ridhima also finds fun outside of residence with volunteering for events such as bake sales and FEDS generated events such as Frost Week and Colour Me Educated. Keeping so busy on campus has taught Ridhima one of the most important values of university life: balance. “You can’t spend all your time studying, you have to balance work and play, and motivate yourself,” she says. So, her advice to all incoming students? “Keep up right from the get go because work piles up in less than a second.”
