The Faculty of Mathematics first half-day teaching workshop was held during the first week in September 2013.

The Teaching Workshop for New (and Nearly-New) Instructors in Mathematics and Computer Science (PDF) began with a panel discussion by faculty members who reflected on their first year of teaching at the University of Waterloo.

Ignite Our Teaching Practice (PDF) came next, in which four outstanding Faculty of Mathematics instructors gave a 15-minute lecture based on their course material. The Fall 2013 workshop featured:

The presentations are followed by discussion of the elements that make these lectures successful.

Finally, workshop participants are asked to prepare a short teaching presentation of their own and take advantage of this opportunity for constructive feedback from their colleagues in small groups.
